Even if you **think** it clicks and is secure, please don't. Please don't ever place your car seat on top of a shopping cart. I love the the Britax Chaperone infant car seat has designed their seat to make it that much harder for people to do this. It's not safe and can damage the mechanisms in the car seat that attach them to the base. Just a side note - I see a lot of people placing their car seats on top of shopping carts. Remember, in cars with LATCH, either use the LATCH install or a seatbelt install, never both. The infant car seat is also equipped with LATCH, which means I can install it in my husbands car in a matter of minutes. I drive a 2000 Subaru right now, and am able to install the base with a seatbelt safely and securely in my car. If it's not installed right, it won't be safe. The Chaperone has a long base, so you'll want to make sure it fits in your car correctly. Your chiropractor will thank you for this and so will your back. Instead of lugging it around by it's comfort handle, I recommend using it with a compatible strollers like the B-Nimble, B-Ready or many other major brand strollers (check to be sure) or taking your sweet baby out of the seat. It's definitely heavy, both the base and the seat itself. I'll admit, this infant car seat is a beast. The Chaperone fits infants rear facing from four to 30 pounds and up to 32" tall, so for most infants, they will be able to comfortably ride well past their first birthday to the American Association of Pediatric's recommendation of two years. I hate rethreading harnesses, so this is a real plus in my book. The no-rethread harness is easily adjustable without disassembly. Our favorite infant car seat.įeatures of the Britax Chaperone infant car seat include a tangle free, five-point harness with seven harness heights and two buckle positions which means a snug and safe fit for your little one. Luckily, Britax sent us a new Chaperone to use for Edison so he could be just like his big sister when she came home two and a half years ago. With safety features like the anti-rebound bar and true side impact protection, not to mention previous experience with the Britax brand, it was an easy choice for us. In 2010, when we needed to choose an infant car seat to bring home Quincy, we selected the Britax Chaperone.
